Sylva Žáková Talpová

Sylva leads the applied research program, and along with other team members, she helps companies transform knowledge into a long-term competitive advantage. She enjoys searching for solutions and synergies, and has long been focusing on interconnecting the academic and practical worlds. 

Sylva is also a lecturer and consultant in project management, and runs courses focused on international management at both Czech and foreign universities, in MBA programs and in the private sphere. Her experience includes work in HR and managing international projects, and in the course of her profession, she has attained several international certificates (PRINCE2, IPMA, ITIL and SCRUM Master).

Petr Smutný

Petr is one of the founders of the Project Management Centre of Excellence of Masaryk University, and has over 15 years of experience as a teacher and instructor. Petr prepares and runs courses focusing on management, developing managerial skills and project management. He is currently the faculty vice-dean for international affairs and an assistant professor.

Petr is the co-author of several applications for managerial simulation games aimed at honing one’s business, managerial and leadership skills. He has applied this in public lecturing in the framework of academic courses and professional programs at several leading universities in the Czech Republic (e.g. Masaryk University, University of Economics, Prague). His preparation also includes ten years of experience as a trainer in an MBA program and a series of internal company training events (including Siko Brno and SSŽ Praha).

Jan Žák

Jan is a trained economist and lawyer who has worked for many years at Masaryk University at the Department of Corporate Economy as a lecturer teaching management and project management. In the framework of this education, he mainly applies simulation educational managerial games, of which he is a co-author. He founded in 2011 and has since run the project Inter-university Student Competition, creating room for interdepartmental work of students on topics elaborated for the City of Brno.

The past three years, he has led the project of a municipal services e-shop “Brno iD” for the Brno Public Transport Authority and for the City of Brno. He has experience in the area of project management, and gradually attained several international certificates (IPMA, PMP, PRINCE2, SCRUM Master and ITIL4).

Jakub Procházka

Jakub is a trained psychologist and economist who deals with the psychology of work and organizations. For over a decade, he has taught students at Masaryk University’s Department of Psychology and the Department of Corporate Economy. He also works as a consultant and lecturer for Czech and Slovak companies in the area of human resources management (past cooperation with e.g. ČEZ, T-Mobile, Česká spořitelna, ČSOB, Enel).

In his research, Jakub focuses mainly on factors influencing the effectiveness of leadership, work performance and attitudes of employees. He has taken part in adaptation of a series of work-psychology methods into Czech, and is the coauthor of over thirty scientific publications, several books and academic textbooks.

Peter Halmo

Peter is a Masaryk University graduate focusing on the field of project management. While still studying, he formed the company InQool a. s., which deals in developing complex information systems. Peter has rich experience in managing products and people. He has worked as the COO and project director of InQool a. s. since its founding.

Peter deals in managing strategic corporate projects. One example is his work on public procurement on the national level such as Czech ministries, Masaryk University, Charles University in Prague, projects for the City of Prague and the City of Ostrava. There are also commercial projects he has worked on, such as for T-mobile CZ and Slovak Telekom.

Tomáš Kubala

His entire life, Tomáš has worked in the area of machine building (from consultation to production and management), mainly in the automobile industry. In 1994, he successfully completed studies at Brno University of Technology (FSI, specialization in quality management). Then for two years, he worked and studied in Japan, to where he has returned several times professionally. He spent part of his professional career in a multinational company and eventually in a private Czech company. For years, he has been sharing his vast experience in consultation, especially in quality management, increasing efficiency, competitiveness and implementing innovations.
